Waiting on Wednesday- Deadly Heat by Richard Castle
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. This day allows us to share news on upcoming releases that have us on the edge of our seats in anticipation.
I am a huge fan of the TV show Castle. I own all the seasons on DVD and I look forward to the return of the show with excitement. In case you are not familiar with the show, it is about a mystery writer named Richard Castle. He follows around a NYPD Detective named Kate Beckett. He follows her for inspiration for his newest character Nikki Heat. Each season Castle is working on a book and just before the next season starts that book is released. Now of course Richard Castle isn't a real person, but it is a lot of fun to read the book that the character is working on through out the show. Rumor has it that several different mystery authors write these under the pseudonym Richard Castle. I'm not sure if this is true but I have noticed reading these books that the writing style is sometimes different. I love that the publishing company acts as if Richard Castle was a real person. It adds a little extra to the show and the books are pretty good. As a fan this is really cool.
Here is the description from goodreads.com:
Picking up where Frozen Heat left off, top NYPD Homicide Detective Nikki Heat pursues the elusive former CIA station chief who ordered the execution of her mother over a decade ago. For the hunt, Nikki teams once again with her romantic partner, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Jameson Rook, and their quest for the old spy and the motive behind the past murder unearths an alarming terror plot-which is anything but ancient history. It is lethal. It is now. And it has already entered its countdown phase. This sounds like it has the potential to be a great plot. I am looking forward to reading this and will have the review here once I do. I am looking forward to this not just because the story sounds like it will be good, but also that means that the show will be returning soon. This book will be released September 17th.
Complicating Heat's mission to bring the rogue spy to justice and thwart the looming terror event, a serial killer begins menacing the Twentieth Precinct and her homicide squad is under pressure to stop him, and soon. The frightening murderer, known for his chilling stealth, not only has singled out Nikki as the exclusive recipient of his taunting messages, he then boldly names his next victim: Detective Heat.
Great pick! I'm a fan of the show but I haven't read any of the books. Thanks for stopping by my True Blood post, I hope you can go to Comic Con one day (it's crazy but a lot of fun). I don't have a WOW this week, I'm still trying to catch up on what I already have so there is nothing I am waiting for.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Kathy

I have a ton on my to-read plate as well, but there are always new books that I want. I have a problem. Yes Comic Con is on my must visit list at some point. I'm a big comic book nerd so this is my dream. Thanks for stopping by as well.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for Castle to return on ABC.
