Follow Me Friday- Reading Nook
Feature Follow is the day of the week that we get to know each other and make some new friends. This is graciously put on by our hosts Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Each week there is one blog featured by each host and a question to help us break the ice and open discussion. Since I am new to blogging I don't currently have a preference as to how you follow me. Feel free to follow through bloglovin, email, or GFC. I'm not picky just happy to have the company.
This weeks question is:
Reading Nook Tour, A tour of my favorite place to read.
Well I honestly don't have a favorite place to read. My wife and I have a samll apartment with our two wonderful children, so you can imagine I have very little time to read. I read in bed when the kids are asleep (reading never lasts for long). I read on the floor and at work when it's slow. When we buy a house I plan on making the perfect reading spot in my very own library, so what am I going to share???
Well the weather is turning cool again, and we all love to spend time outside. Our apartment is on the second floor, so we have this great balcony that is covered by the roof, so I can sit outside rain or shine We have the grill, a small garden and two camping chairs set up for relaxing in the cool air. Here are a few pictures of my reading spot.
This is our little balcony. We like it quite a bit, and we get a great breeze even though it has a roof over it. In my little pot in the upper right corner of my first picture is my garden. Impressive right? At the moment I only have a very healthy celery plant growing, but I'm proud. I will plant green onions and garlic later.
My chair is of course the the fancy Jeep one closet to the grill. My wife has one just like it but she likes the simple blue one better. I always like to be comfortable when I sit outside to read. I'm about to start Doctor Sleep by Stephen King so I am all ready with an ice cold beer and my comfy chair. The best way for me to relax is always family time or reading with a good beer.
This little area is for my son. He has a plastic Adirondack chair that he can sit in, but he loves playing at the table. Whether it is coloring or playing with Play-Dough, this is where he likes to take up residence.
My 4 month old daughter usually sits in our arms or in her little bouncy seat that is currently inside. It's not much, but we like it. My wife and I still have our dreams of our own house with our own version of the perfect reading spot, but for now this is pretty nice. I only use it in the fall or while it is still cool in the spring (I don't do well in the heat. I like cold weather personally).
I hope you enjoyed checking out my little reading spot. I can't wait to see what everyone taking part in the FF will have as theirs.
Thanks for stopping by my FF! I wish I could sit outside and enjoy reading!! It's so hard to concentrate when there are bugs flying around you all the time though :/
ReplyDeleteFollowing back on bloglovin :)
The bugs can be an issue. When it started to warm up we had a really bad wasp problem. I wouldn't let me son outside at all till I sprayed and knocked down every nest they had built. So far we are wasp free and the bugs aren't to bad till the evening.
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
I want to read the shinning and doctor sleep by stephen king! Here is mine:

The Shining was a good one. I haven't gotten into Doctor Sleep yet but I am really excited. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteVery nice areas! I really would love to read outside, but in Texas the mosquitoes are as big as my car lol Enjoy it enough for the both of us!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Take Me Away...!
New follower!
That stinks about the mosquitoes. They are really bad here at night. We are not far from the Missouri River. Thankfully we don't get bugged during the day. Thanks for checking out my post.
DeleteLooks like a really nice reading place :)

It's not much but we like it. Thanks for stopping by
DeleteLooks comfy to me! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a great weekend! :D
ReplyDeleteLove that you have an outside reading spot. I hope that you have a nice, enjoyable view from there. My son is used to playing next to me while I read, too. Creates quite a peaceful atmosphere, I think. ;)

We have a big tree outside our balcony and then just street and other apartment buildings. The tree looks great in the winter when it is covered with snow. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI kill plants either with neglect or kindness so your celery plant looks pretty impressive :) I don't read outside because I burn very easily but a covered balcony must be really nice. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a great weekend!

I don't do well with plants either. That's why I'm shocked that the celery is doing so well. I also bought my wife a hanging plant for Mother's Day and I work hard to keep that living for her. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThis looks like a very cozy place to gather. Those celery leaves would be great in a salad.
ReplyDeleteI plan on making my own Chicken stock soon and I plan to use them in that.
DeleteHi! Your son has a cute plastic table and chair. I'd love to read outside too when the weather is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog :)
He loves that table. He will color or get his play-dough out and have a blast. Now that the weather is getting cooler we will be outside much more often.
DeleteThanks for stopping by my blog as well.
Love that Doctor Sleep is featured!
ReplyDeleteWell in all honesty I haven't started it yet but the pictures I took with my Kindle on the chair didn't show up well. So I was very excited to show off my new book. Once I finish this ARC I'm reading now by my other favorite author I will jump on Doctor Sleep. I'm so excited.
