R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril, VIII
I just found out about this reading challenge and this is perfect for me!!! R.I.P. is known as Readers Imbibing Peril, and it is a challenge to read Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, Dark Fantasy, Gothic, Horror, and Supernatural. This challenge is put on by Stainless Steel Droppings, and if you are like me and have just now found out about this, head over to his blog and check it out. This challenge officially runs from September 1st to October 31st but I am starting right now because I am so excited.
This is such a cool challenge, and since this is a category I mainly read anyway I am taking the plunge. I am going to pledge to be part of:
Peril the First means I will be reading four books, any length, that I feel fit into this challenge. Since I am already reading a Sherlock Holmes collection of stories and just started Stephen King's Joyland, I am already half way to my first goal once these are finished and reviewed. I also have several other books lined up to be read that are perfect for this challenge.
I am also going to take part in:
How cool is it that this challenge also includes watching movies and television shows as well? I am a big fan of Horror movies, and the cheesier the better. October is the month of horror for me. All month long I watch as many of the Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Halloween movies I can. My blog is for both books and movies so I really look forward to reviewing some of my favorite horror movies in October, and better yet to include them in this challenge.
I'm new at blogging and have only been around for just over a month, but this isn't my first blog challenge. I am so excited to participate in another challenge, and it sounds perfect for me. I can't wait to get into this and start reading and reviewing. I couldn't have found a more perfect event to be apart of especially as the weather will be turning into fall soon.
I love this challenge. I have participated in it for a few years now. The movies/TV option is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteWell, thanks again to you I found out about this because you had it posted on your blog. I had to check this out it is exactly the type of books I read. I'm so excited about the film and TV challenge. I am already planning a few reviews of Movies to go along with this challenge and Halloween. So very excited to take part in this. Thank you so much for posting your own goals.
DeleteStephen King sure seems popular around the blogosphere lately. I really should read more by him.
ReplyDeleteKing is one of my favorite authors. He has definitely kept me up at nights either creeped out, or totally wrapped up in the book. Hope you enjoy him when you start. I would recommend IT or Salems Lot. The Shining was good too be the others are my favorites.
DeleteWelcome to blogging and welcome to the RIP event! So glad you discovered us and decided to join in. We do strive to keep it relaxed and fun every year.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to read Joyland soon myself. Picked it up right when it came out, love the cover. I haven't read King for a long time and it would be fun to do so again.
I love cheesy scary movies too, particularly the old Hammer Horror films and Vincent Price movies. They are old enough that they maintain a bit of a creepy factor if watched on a dark night but are also just silly enough to have a good laugh at.
Thanks, I'm really excited about the RIP event. I also love the old horror films and Vincent Price is one of the greats. I loved the House on Haunted hill and Last Man on Earth. I also love the original Universal Monster movies.
DeleteCan't wait to start posting my reviews for this event. Hope you enjoy Joyland when you get to it. I'm still only a few pages in right now.
Welcome to the challenge! I've been seeing lots of Holmes plans this year. :) Looking forward to your reviews!
ReplyDeleteI love Sherlock Holmes but I tend to be extra critical when someone other than Connan Doyle writes him. I'm very excited about this challenge, I look forward to reading your reviews too.
