Green Lantern: The Wrath of the First Lantern by Various

This book is a crossover book that includes several different Green lantern titles. This book has Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Red Lanterns, and Green Lantern: New Guardians. I have had an issue with the individual books because there are so many plot holes. It was driving me nuts and I even took a little break from the Green Lantern series for awhile. Reading this book was great.

This book is the comprehensive First Lantern story. All of the plot holes are filled in and the book flows seamlessly. Even with this story being written by different writers it just works. The first lantern is the one person who took the ring formed by creation itself. He used the ring for his own gain to change and reshape reality itself. The Guardians of the Universe trapped him and threw away the key. Since the Guardians are focused on destroying the Green Lantern Corps that they don't see the attempt to free the First Lantern coming. Once he has escaped he has to absorb emotions to help him charge to his full power. We get to see a lot of big players in the different Lantern Corps face some of there biggest faults in this book and it made for a great story.

This is a huge graphic novel because of all the different series that are smashed in here but the story is so good I couldn't put this down. The art work was really good also and was perfect for each panel. There are several covers that take up two pages which had amazing scenes in those, plus there are a couple of characters who have their different personalities shown. For example, Hal Jordan is touched by the First Lantern and he duplicates into every form he has had. Every different Lantern he has been and it was a great scene that gave me goosebumps.

This book was great and I loved it. Easily a 5 out of 5 star book. I can't wait to see where Hal Jordan is taken in the next story line. This one wraps up pretty well and even gives the future of all of our favorite characters. I highly recommend this book to any Green Lantern fan.
