It has been a slow reading week for me and it has caused a stall in my blog. I will be honest and say that I haven't really been in the reading mood. I downed a bunch of graphic novels all at once and I have some amazing ones lined up to read and review Thanks to DC Comics and Edelweiss so look for those in the future. Shhhh, it's a secret as to which ones I have lined up. Have I sufficiently built suspense yet?
I am one of those people who has several books going at a time so I figured sine I have taken a bit of a hiatus this week that I would at least share what is on my bedside table so to speak. Work has been crazy busy and stressful this week so I haven't been listening to my audio book that often. I have been rocking out with some metal and hard rock to get me all pumped up to take on my daily tasks at work and power through all of the extra stuff thrown at me. Needless to say it is taking longer to get through this book that it usually wood. Currently I am reading Fractured by Karin Slaughter.
This book is a rough read. Karin Slaughter likes to really tug on your heart strings and make the reader sick to their stomach. If you are not deeply disturbed by what her villains have done then there might be something wrong with you. It is a true testament to her writing skill when something so horrible can make me nauseous and still not be able to put the book down. It's like a train wreck, it is so terrible but you still can't look away.
I am really enjoying the book but because of how crazy things have been music has just been what I need to keep me chugging along through my work. That and lots and lots of coffee. I should finish this book by the end of the week so with any luck I will be back to my regular posting next week.
This is the second book in the Will Trent series and I can tell you at this point I am enjoying it much more than the previous book Tryptich. I am only a few books behind catching up to where I started with Karin Slaughter's books. Soon I will just have to sit and wait for the new books like everyone else.
My library has been my best friend in my mad dash to catch up on the stories I have missed in the DC Universe. I have one left from the stack of them I picked up from my library and I hope to get back to it this weekend. This is a collection of a lot off the books I have already read so I would think this won't take me long to get through but I am very interested to see how they all fit together to make one complete story. I'm sure I will enjoy it because everything I have read from this story line already has been absolutely amazing.
Finally, I usually have one physical hard back that I am reading. these take me forever to get through these days because the only time I have to read them are on the weekends and my kiddos just wont let me pick up a book. As soon as my 1 year old daughter sees me sit down with my book she grabs a few of her books and climbs into my lap asking me to read. It is just to cute to ignore. I have always been a lover of books and I have certain ones that I collect. Any of Jeffery Deaver's and Stephen King's books are ones I pre order in hardback as soon as they are available, and for those I am missing that are old I am always on the look out for in hardback first editions at the used book sales. The other ones I try to collect in hardback are any Sherlock Holmes novels. The Conan Doyle foundation has commissioned Anthony Horowitz to write the continuing cannon of Sherlock Holmes. I really liked his first Sherlock Holmes book and when I saw his new book Moriarty out right before Christmas I got excited. Thankfully, my Mom got this for me for Christmas but it took me awhile to get to it. This book is all about what happens after the incident at Reichenbach falls where Moriarty and Holmes plummet to their deaths, or did they. I am really enjoying this book and I'm a little over half way through. It will be awhile before I finish but this gives you all something to look for in the future.
So for discussion sake, you all know what I'm reading. What are you reading right now?
