Waiting on Wednesday- Bones of the Lost by Kathy Reichs

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. This day allows us to share news on upcoming releases that have us on the edge of our seats in anticipation.

This week I am looking forward to the release of the next chapter in the Temperance Brennan series, Bones of the Lost. Here is the Goodreads description.

When Charlotte police discover the body of a teenage girl along a desolate stretch of two-lane highway, Temperance Brennan fears the worst. The girl’s body shows signs of foul play. Inside her purse police find the ID card of a prominent local businessman, John-Henry Story, who died in a horrific flea market fire months earlier. Was the girl an illegal immigrant turning tricks? Was she murdered?

The medical examiner has also asked Tempe to examine a bundle of Peruvian dog mummies confiscated by U.S. Customs. A Desert Storm veteran named Dominick Rockett stands accused of smuggling the objects into the country. Could there be some connection between the trafficking of antiquitiesand the trafficking of humans?

As the case deepens, Tempe must also grapple with personal turmoil. Her daughter Katy, grieving the death of her boyfriend in Afghanistan, impulsively enlists in the Army. Meanwhile, Katy’s father Pete is frustrated by Tempe’s reluctance to finalize their divorce. As pressure mounts from all corners, Tempe soon finds herself at the center of a conspiracy that extends all the way from South America, to Afghanistan, and right to the center of Charlotte. “A genius at building suspense” (Daily News, New York), Kathy Reichs is at her brilliant best in this thrilling novel.
I have always been a big fan of Kathy Reichs from early in her Brennan series. There are only a few I still need to read to catch up. Still, even though I am a bit behind on the series I am always excited to see what is coming next.  Each of these books could easily be read as a stand alone novel, but I do like to read them in order so I know what is going on in the relationships of the characters. I love all of the Characters that Kathy Reichs has created. They are very likeable and well put together. This is also evident in the Television versions of the characters. Bones is one of my wife and my favorite shows.

Check out the show in reruns on TNT or catch new episodes this Fall on Fox if you are interested. Both book and the show are very well written and something to look forward to.

Bones of the Lost will be out next week. August 27, 2013. Still time to preorder or get your name on a reserve list at your local library.
